The development of a new hotel/convention center (on land that GBAD purchased from the Simplot Corporation) took a step forward when the District entered into a public/private partnership with locally recognized Oppenheimer Development Company.
GBAD Acquires the Repurchase Rights From the Simplot Corporation
In early 2008 GBAD secured the future expansion site from any encumbrances by acquiring the repurchase rights from the Simplot Corporation.
GBAD Pays Off Outstanding Debt Early to Save $100,000 in Interest
In June 2008 GBAD paid off the debt of the Boise Centre 18 months early—saving the District $100,000 in interest. This allows GBAD to direct its finances towards the continued maintenance and upgrades of the Boise Centre and focus on the development of the new expansion.
